The solution we designed was to add a brand new Master Suite to their home. This was achieved through the addition of a Master Bedroom over the homes existing vaulted family room and converting an un-used loft and their oldest daughter’s bedroom which was built into a dormer on the front of the house into a large Master Suite. This allowed the oldest child, a daughter, to move into the old master suite. The design challenge was to keep the existing family room’s sense of spaciousness while adding the bedroom above and then providing a grand entry into the new Master Suite off a narrow 2nd floor hallway at the top of the stairs. The solution was a stepped up master bedroom to give the family room a raised tray ceiling and laying out a double door entry to the master suite on an angle with vestibule. The home was also due for a furnace replacement so we used that opportunity to install a separate thermostat for the new Master Suite to add comfort to home that was missing when built. The end result was beautiful. The family had a great eye for colors and selections which always makes our work look even better.
